Hello again, friend! I’ve painted lots of furniture over the years, and one color choice that you can never go wrong with is white. White furniture is a timeless style that goes with pretty much anything – and it doesn’t have to be boring! Today I’m sharing some of my favorite white painted furniture ideas from the past – along with my friend Kathy from Petticoat Junktion (see her favorites here).
Also, I’d love for you to share this post or Pin it to easily find it later.
White Painted Furniture Ideas
First is this 2-door curbside cabinet I found last summer sitting out for the trash. It was plain before, but I transformed it into a farmhouse-style faux apothecary cabinet with black hardware. I really struggled with wanting to keep this one! See the tutorial here. You can also learn how to distress white furniture there.
Next is this small buffet below – the top was sanded down and then I stenciled a bone inlay pattern right over the bare wood. It turned out gorgeous! Learn the steps for this makeover here.
This little piano bench went through a couple makeovers before finding its true destiny with a stenciled French grain sack seat. It’s a simple update that became one of my favorites – discover how to do this yourself here.
Next, this little bookshelf was outdated but had so much potential – I turned it into a sweet, colorful piece with decoupage napkins on the back while painting the body white. Read the whole tutorial here.
The Lane cedar chest below has a funny story about how I found it at Goodwill and brought it home. I also added curvy little legs because it was so low to the ground. Read the story and learn more about this white painted Lane chest here.
Below there are over 60 different white painted furniture ideas to inspire you. Remember, you can still have a lot of fun by adding color inside drawers, using interesting handles, or even some decoupage or stripes. Click any of the images below to learn more and see a painting tutorial.

For me, nothing is better than white paint. The paint I go through the fastest is ASCP Pure White. Some say it’s too stark, but I love it. Thanks for gathering all of these great pieces together. The little piano bench with French grain sack seat is my favorite.

Thanks so much, Lizzy! I love Pure White, even though it needs some extra prep work sometimes. 🙂
