French Linen Chalk Paint
This classic gray is neutral yet beautiful. French Linen is a mix of khaki/taupe/gray – like vintage European textiles or even concrete. It pairs well with natural colors like Pure White, Old White, Old Ochre, or Country Grey, and brighter colors like pink, purple, or red.
(Psst… Feel free to share this post or Pin the image above to easily find it later – I’ll keep adding more examples in the future.)
Personally I love layering French Linen with other colors by dry brushing or using it next to another color for a two-toned look. It also looks great as a “graywash” for added dimension (see the driftwood finish example here).
How to Seal French Linen Chalk Paint
To seal French Linen Chalk Paint, apply Annie Sloan’s clear wax with a wax brush or lint-free cloth. Sealing with white, brown, or black wax will completely change the look of your piece. It’s always advised to apply clear wax first before using another wax color to control how dark or light the piece actually gets. You can then apply more clear wax on top to remove some of the colored wax if necessary.
