Hello again friend! Today I’m sharing a vintage chair makeover that is so very sweet.
Personally I like chair makeovers like this one because they can be pretty quick as long as there aren’t many repairs that have to be done. Here’s the Before:

I’ve been so excited to use some grain sack fabric that I got on sale awhile ago. I also had the perfect matching blue paint in my stash from a Lowe’s paint sample – it’s called Indigo Cloth.
Update: I no longer use latex paint on furniture. Visit these posts for details on my favorite paint brands:

Sorry for the lack of step-by-step photos this time! The chair was painted blue and then protected with clear wax, and then the grain sack fabric replaced the old floral – and now we have a whole new look.
*Find more details and photos here for how to reupholster a chair seat.
Update: I ended up giving the china cabinet above a makeover later too. You can see it here: China Cabinet Makeover with Wallpaper.
I didn’t paint every nook and cranny in the wood. I love the design on the back of the chair and it really pops now!
I distressed the wood a little by sanding with 220-grit sandpaper – it peeks through beautifully.
And here’s a handy before/after comparison for your enjoyment. Feel free to share this project with a friend or Pin it to easily find again later.
I hope this grain sack chair makeover has inspired you to try something similar.

You gave this chair the perfect makeover. I love the blue color you chose and how some of the wood tone peeks out from underneath the paint. The grain sack seat coordinates perfectly with your paint choice. This one is going to sell quickly in your shop!
How did you not get paint into the carving on the back of the seat? I like that look and when I find a similar piece would like to replicate your technique.

it is so beautiful. What did you do to keep the paint out of the carved design? I did not see it in the tutorials.
Thanks for sharing.
