Today I’m thrilled to be kicking off a Valentine’s Day tour with 13 other creative bloggers. Join us in making decor and crafts for the upcoming holiday of love. At the end of this post you can find links to all the participating blogs.
For this project, I wanted to make some Valentine’s Day art for my mantel that didn’t look too out of place with the rest of my decor. So I headed over to Hobby Lobby and picked up a few supplies:
- Burlap covered canvas – $6.99 (on sale for 30% off) = $4.89
- Rosette ribbon trim – $4.99/yd x 2 yards (40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby’s mobile app) = $5.99
- Decorative Tacks – $1.99
- Mod Podge (already had)
- Scissors
- Hammer
Total Cost: $12.87
I laid out the ribbon and cut strips of it to form the shape of a heart.
Then I lifted one strip at a time and applied a layer of Mod Podge until all the pieces were glued on.
Finally I nailed tacks around the edge of the canvas – seven on each side.
It turned out beautifully and it blends perfectly with my mantel decor!
Roses always remind me of love. <3
Not bad for less than $13!
And I could probably leave this art on my mantel for longer than just February.
How are you planning to decorate for Valentine’s Day?
