Friends, I have a sweet little makeover for you today. This antique bench deserved to have a much more charming look, and the stained green fabric wasn’t doing it any favors.
I searched through my stash and found this gorgeous vintage pillowcase with stitched floral design which I’ve had for years and been saving for the perfect project.
I didn’t even need to cut the pillowcase, it was exactly the right size to recover the seat.
The wood was painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in Pure White and lightly distressed for a kind of shabby chic look. Then I used clear wax to protect it.
The pillowcase is SO pretty… can you see all the texture? I think the design may have been hand stitched.
Here’s a before-after comparison:
What do you think of this sweet little bench makeover? I’d love to know!
Have a wonderful weekend, friend~

Great makeover! I love that you were able to use a vintage pillowcase as the covering. Now that pretty embroidery can be enjoyed daily.

You are an inspiration. I have 3 or 4 vintage pillowcases that I have had a number of years. I don’t have a bench like the one you have but I do have a few small stools. Thanks for the eye opener……
