Hi friends! This week a group of us have joined together for a “Welcome Home” Summer Tour sponsored by Balsam Hill. Does it feel like summer yet where you live? It’s slowly creeping up into the 70s and 80s here in Indiana – and the boys have finished school already so we’re officially on summer break! 🙂
Today I’m sharing my summer mantel, complete with a couple of easy DIY makeovers…
I received these gorgeous tall silverleaf candle holders from Balsam Hill – isn’t that silver shimmer so elegant? (They’re available in both 20″ and 24″ sizes.) They were a little dark for what I had in mind so I added some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White, but I was careful to still let the shimmer shine through.
I also painted this vintage frame, letting some of the original finish show for a bit of a weathered look.
I added a preserved boxwood wreath, faux garland, flowers, birds, and mercury glass for a bright and cheerful summer mantel.
I think it all came together beautifully, don’t you?
It’s a little hard to see in the photos, but the silver in the candle holders and the mercury glass really compliment each other well.
What would summer be without birds and flowers?
The candle holders really add a dramatic touch to my tall mantel – and they’ll also look gorgeous as winter decor too!
I’m so glad summer’s finally here, aren’t you?
If you noticed that I haven’t been around much this past week, we took the boys on our first big family vacation to DisneyWorld! I’ll tell you all about it soon. 😉
