Original Chalk Paint
This warm white is a little bit creamy, with a slight gray undertone. Original has been described as a shade between Pure White and Old White. Depending on your piece, you might want to prime first to avoid any problems with wood tannins bleeding through. Go here to learn all about how to properly prep furniture for painting.

Original seems to be a little less popular than the other white Chalk Paint colors (Pure White and Old White), maybe because it’s so similar to both. It distresses easily and looks great on antique or farmhouse style projects, especially in combination with raw or stained wood. Fun fact: Prior to late 2018, Original was not available in the U.S.
How to Seal Original Chalk Paint
To seal Original Chalk Paint, apply Annie Sloan’s clear wax with a wax brush or lint-free cloth to keep the creamy white color. White wax will lighten the look just a bit. Sealing with brown or black wax will completely change the look of your piece. It’s always advised to apply clear wax first before using a dark wax color to control how dark the piece actually gets. You can then apply more clear wax on top to remove some of the darker wax.
