Hey guys! I’m still working on items for the vintage market, and that includes some small furniture as well. I painted this small table over the weekend:

First, I primed it with my favorite primer since reddish wood almost always bleeds through.
Then I imperfectly painted it in Annie Sloan’s Coco Chalk Paint, and after that dried I painted over the Coco with Old Ochre Chalk Paint.
Finally I distressed it by sanding all over so that the wood and the Coco peek through from underneath. And here she is…..
I just love the style and the details in this little table.
The distressing really brings out the lines and curves and the beautiful texture.
I ended up sealing it with MasterClear topcoat, since I had it nearby from the metallic nightstand that I just painted.
Before/After:
What do you think of my small table makeover? I’d love to know! Leave your thoughts in a comment below. 🙂 Now I have to go work on more market projects…….

Can I ask why you used other topcoat instead of wax?

Chris, the first reason is that I might have been a bit lazy and didn’t want to walk downstairs to get the wax when the MasterClear was still nearby from the last table I painted (since it’s the recommended finish for metallic paint). The second reason is that the vintage market that I’m selling this piece at is outdoors, and if there’s a chance that it might be a warm day, I didn’t want to worry about the wax starting to melt or feel sticky (since it’s not recommended for outdoor pieces). Hope that helps!
