Shabby Chic Decoupage Organizer

There I go… using “shabby chic” again.  This storage box is so pretty and feminine though… it was cute before but you couldn’t use it anywhere besides a nursery.  So I do think Shabby Chic Organizer Makeover is a good name… and of course I decoupaged it.  🙂

I bought this at a resale store for $4 I think.   Not bad when most things there are overpriced nowadays!

First I painted it in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in Old White to make it into a blank canvas.  Then I dug through my stash of knobs until I found 4 that I thought looked good together.  (I didn’t want to buy any new knobs, and I didn’t have 4 of the same kind.)

I thought about stenciling or decoupaging some bright fabric onto the box but I really wanted something simple and kind of elegant.  Then I remembered my textured paintable wallpaper that I used on my armoire and this dresser – I didn’t even need to paint it, it was perfect as is!  I used a little Mod Podge and we were in business.

The texture on the drawers makes it look so soft and feminine!

The two pulls with green on them are clearance knobs from Anthropologie, the white flower is from Hobby Lobby, and the bird is from ebay.

It also seems a little whimsical to me – do you agree?

This candle holder is also a clearance find from Anthropologie.  This little guy is excited to have his first photo shoot.   😉

Cute makeover! I love the fun knobs. I need to start picking up knobs that I like when I see them so that I’ll have them on hand for makeovers like yours.

Thank you Paula! I do have a problem with buying pretty knobs. 😉 At least they’re inexpensive!

The paper you used to decorate the organizer made it look so elegant. I personally would not have chosen those knobs. Something more feminine would have really made it more shabby chic. Thanks for your great ideas!
