Hi there, how was your weekend?  My Saturday was a bit crazy since we had our boys’ birthday party (I’ll share some pictures later this week), and then Sunday I had some “me time” to visit my booth and also do a little DIYing.  Last week I picked up the April issue of All You Magazine while I was shopping at Meijer and inside found some Easter eggs that had decoupaged flowers on them.  They were SO pretty, and they inspired my project today.

I wanted to do a similar project but I wanted mine to last through spring and not just Easter, so I subbed the eggs for some glass bottles.  I planned to buy empty vases or carafes, but didn’t see any I liked- and they were more than I wanted to pay anyway.  Then I happened to walk through the ethnic food aisle and found these perfect glass bottles for less than $1 each!

I emptied the bottles and removed the labels.

Then I bought some cardstock cutouts from the craft store ($5.99 – 40% off coupon = $3.59, and I have a LOT left over) and gathered my Mod Podge and a decoupage brush.

I dumped out the cutouts and rearranged them about a dozen times, and then glued them to the bottles with a light brush of Mod Podge on the back.

These lovely decoupaged bottles are perfect for spring!  (Can you tell which way the wind was blowing? Ha!)

I put a stem of faux flowers in each because the bottles really shouldn’t get wet.

I have never read the magazine, but have been on the webpage because it is under the same umbrella of Food and Wine and Cooking Light. I like All You because it’s got a little bit of everything: fitness, food, lifestyle, etc!

I love the fact that All You is always finding ways for the reader to save money and I love the craft projects. Jen, yours turned out so pretty! Nice choice on changing out to the barely blue tinted bottles. The pink really stands out!

So far I love the magazine for its creative and fun crafty ideas.

On another subject – Do you have a good way for taking labels off of bottles (such as the ones you bought above) which you might share with us? I always have trouble getting them completely off, along with all the stickiness.

      Hi Cynthia,
I used Goo Gone to remove the sticky residue from the labels. I poured a little on a paper towel, pressed onto the residue briefly, and then rubbed for awhile. It’s probably not the easiest way, but it worked pretty well for me. After three bottles my arm was pretty tired though!
