Formerly Fido Footstool

Footstool makeover by Girl in the Garage

We have two dogs, and they’re part of our family.  We have photos of them in our house but I’m not sure I would want a footstool with their likeness on it.  Apparently someone else thought the same thing, so I got this little guy at a yard sale for a few dollars.

BEFORE- Footstool makeover by Girl in the Garage

The first thing I did was remove the legs – I wasn’t a fan of the brass so I spray painted them metallic silver.

I carefully removed the black fabric by prying out the staples because I planned to reuse it.

I used the last bit of leftover fabric from my armoire makeover and fabric garland and bunting and stapled it over the pooch.

Then I stapled the original black fabric back in place to conceal any rough edges, and the newly spray painted legs went back on.

I also added silver upholstery tacks from Hobby Lobby for some bling.

Voila.   Stylish and chic…  Sorry puppy!

That’s such a cute fabric and the new paint on the legs was just the thing. I keep meaning to try adding tacks to something but haven’t gotten around to it yet. They really add a lot to your footstool!

Thank you Liz! I LOVE upholstery tacks- Hobby Lobby has a few different kinds and I’m always looking for an excuse to use them. 😉
