Bookcase Blues

If you follow me on Facebook you may know that I mentioned how incredibly HOT it’s been here lately.  The boys love playing outside in the summer but some days it’s too hot and humid to be outside unless they’re in the sprinkler!   Thankfully it always stays pretty cool in my garage, so I can keep on painting without too many issues.   😉

Yes I admit I fell in love with my new Annie Sloan chalk paint, enough that I decided to use it again- this time on a bookcase that I bought for displaying smaller items in my booth.  Also, the paint isn’t exactly cheap, so I’ll be painting lots of things in Provence blue (and in Paris Gray, which I’ll be using on a couple pieces soon) until I can order more colors to use.  (And yes, I took pics with my cell phone again – shame on me!)

Before (ugly with some great potential):

After one coat of AS chalk paint (with my flowers that I had to bring in from a big storm!):

After applying clear wax – now it’s in my booth:

If you need a reminder of the borrowed bookcase that used to be in my booth (functional but just didn’t look right with my other pieces!):

And if you’re curious to see the rest of my booth, after one month of renting it:

You’ll notice a couple of pillows – I made them from drop cloths and fancy ribbons.  Also a vintage turquoise typewriter (super cool) which I recently got at a yard sale for $5 (it’s not actually for sale, I love it too much and I think it will be awesome for staging some future photos).

It’s definitely fuller!   And I’ve decorated and accessorized a little more.  I have sold a couple things but I’m looking forward to adding even more and having a bigger selection.   😉

Who said the blues has to be a sad thing, anyway?  Lately it’s been making me very happy!

What colors make you happy?

Really nice shelf and I love the color. Blue is my favorite color and any shade makes me happy!
