I have a very cool and simple project to share with you today. I found this vintage wooden cube (side table?) at a thrift store and knew I could do something special with it. Now usually, I bring something home and it sits in my garage until I figure out exactly what I want to do. But this time was different.
The woven sides reminded me of a patterned sheet of metal. I wanted to recreate the look even further, so I bought some metallic silver spray paint and painted about two coats.
Then I finished it off with some protectant spray.
After it dried I brought it into the house and my 4-year-old asked, “What’s that cage for?” Hmmm… So maybe I achieved my goal of making it look like metal.
I do think it might look cute with a little dog bed inside. There was no way my dog was going to get in though, so I substituted for the elephant. (He didn’t mind.)
I definitely think this fits in with the industrial style which has been gaining in popularity again lately. It’s such a small piece and was inexpensive so it was the perfect item to take a risk with. What do you think? Would you spray paint any of your furniture metallic?
Have you missed any of my recent posts?
